I was delighted to be a guest on the GENE radio show, presented by Girlguiding Essex North East, this morning.

In the two-hour show we celebrated all things World Book Day and International Women’s Day (what a combo!).

We shared the literary world’s we’d love to visit (mine was The Shire as I’ve always thought I’d make an excellent hobbit). I talked a little about my journey to becoming an author and did a terrible job waffling instead of plugging my books eloquently!

It was also lovely to get a chance to do a shout out to the literary woman who’s insipired me most – which has to be Lou Kuenzler. Meeting Lou on the CityLit Writing for Children course she was running made me believe becoming an author was possible. And it was!

To top off a fab two hours, the hosts gave me my own ‘I’ve been on GENE’ badge which is already taking pride of place on my office noticeboard.

I’m so grateful to the team for hosting me. If any girlguiding or other local stations fancy a chat in the coming months (especially as I have a new book out in June) do let me know! And you can catch the replay of this morning’s show (the 1st March 2026 episode) here soon.
