Take your brave young bookworms on a one-hour journey with me through the Stinking Sinking Swamp. They’ll:
- discover their giant name
- meet a few swamp creatures
- hear an extract from Small!
- create a brand new swamp creature … and write its secret diary
- have the chance to get their books signed and stamped.
School events
I want to offer something that’s affordable to everyone, so I’ve added starter and Q&A sessions into the mix alongside traditional assemblies and classes. And don’t forget, you can download lots of worksheets on my fun and games pages.

Follow-up class
Top secret swamp diary storytelling
In a 45-minute follow-up class we’ll get to know our new swamp creature better by creating stereotype-busting characters (inspired by Small Bites Back). We’ll also write our character’s top secret diary by:
- exploring place and settings to describe its home
- learning more about its personality … things it wants and is scared of
- telling a story using my secret storytelling structure!
I can also run this as a 60-minute standalone class.
